Privacy Policy

Who we are

This privacy policy covers the website at https://fighting.net (“Fighting.net”, “we”, “us”). Fighting.net is an independent website that publishes martial-arts guides.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, added to the site with the MonsterInsights plugin, to understand which pages people read. Google Analytics records information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived (for example from a search engine), your approximate location, and your device and browser type. It uses cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID) to tell visits apart. We use this information only in aggregate to improve the site; we don’t use it to identify you.

Google processes this data under its own privacy policy: Google Privacy Policy. You can see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services, and you can stop Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Comments

Comments are closed on older articles. Where comments are open and you leave one, we collect the data shown in the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string, to help detect spam. Comments are moderated before they appear.

An anonymised string created from your email address (called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it and to show your profile picture next to your comment. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at automattic.com/privacy.

Cookies

  • Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, described above.
  • Comment cookies: if you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies so you don’t have to fill them in again. These last for one year.
  • Login cookies are only set for people who manage the site.

Security

The site uses the Wordfence security plugin to block attacks. It logs the IP addresses of visits and login attempts, and may use that information to block traffic it judges to be malicious.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles may include embedded content (for example videos). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if you had visited the other website: that website may collect data about you, use cookies and track your interaction with the embedded content.

Who we share your data with

We don’t sell your personal data. Analytics data is processed by Google as described above. We may disclose information if the law requires it.

How long we keep your data

  • Comments and their metadata are kept until the comment is deleted.
  • Google Analytics keeps detailed event data for the retention period set in our Google Analytics account (at most 14 months for a standard property); summary reports are kept longer.
  • Security logs are kept for a limited time by the security plugin.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, or to object to how we use it. If you have left a comment, you can ask us to export or erase the data we hold about you. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if the way we collect or use data changes, and change the date at the top.
